PRACTICES FOR WHOLENESS
The Soul
We believe the soul is not a problem to be solved or a doctrine to be mastered. It is the deepest dimension of who we are — the place where our longing for God and our longing for our own lives meet. Midlife has a way of bringing that place to the surface, whether we are ready or not.
A Place of Meeting
We believe the soul is the deepest dimension of who we are—the place where our longing for God and our longing for our own lives meet. It is not a problem to be solved or a doctrine to be mastered, but a sacred interior landscape where we are truly met and known.
Midlife has a way of bringing this depth to the surface, whether we are ready or not. Ichthus creates the intentional conditions for a man to finally turn toward that voice, clearing the ground so that what has always been present can finally be received.
Contemplative Prayer
Contemplative prayer slows a man down long enough to be present—not to produce an outcome, but to simply be with God. It asks only for the mind to rest and the body to be still. In this quietude, the inner self finally begins to settle.
Scripture Reflection
Scripture Reflection is just that--it brings men into slow, unhurried contact with scripture—not to study it, but to be met by it. It invites us to allow a single word or phrase the space to breathe. This is listening with the whole self.
Shared Storytelling
Shared storytelling in our online Sanctuary Community and testimony remind men they are not alone in what they carry. When one speaks honestly about faith, doubt and loss, something opens in the room. The soul is fed not only in solitude but in the truth-telling presence of others.
Spiritual Direction
Spiritual direction offers a dedicated space where a man can speak freely about his interior life, his experience of God, and his questions. It is one of the oldest forms of soul care in the Christian tradition, providing quietly powerful accompaniment rather than advice.
